Obituary

Sam Grubb, age 86, of Madisonville, passed away 2:02 P.M. Monday, September 18, 2023 at Life Care of Athens. Member of the First United Methodist Church of Madisonville and was a charter member of the United Methodist Men. His passion was being a School teacher for 20 years and it never left his heart. Worked at Fort Loudoun Electric Coop for 20 years. Sam was a founding board member with the Monroe Co. Habitat and volunteered at the Good Sheperd Center. As a young boy, he was playing basketball and was in the Boy Scouts. Sam loved the outdoors, hiking and camping He truly loved his family and friends. 


Survivors, daughter & son-in-law, Lee Anne & Todd Strickland, Sons & daughter-in-law, Jon & Whitney Grubb, Joe Grubb, Grandchildren, Paetyn, Will, Greyson, Julia, Cooper, Cole, Quinn, Russ and Mia, Sister, Linda Johnson, Several nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by wife, Kathryn Lee (Kay) Hiltbrand Grubb, parents, William S. Grubb & Lucy Stiles Grubb Bryant, brother, Sever Grant (S.G.) Grubb. 


Memorial service 12:30 P.M. Saturday, First United Methodist Church of Madisonville, Rev. Chris Black officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Community Café or to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Family will receive friends 11 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Madisonville. Arrangements by Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
